Mission Statement
“The mission of the Columbus Fire Department is to save lives, protect property, suppress, and control fires and provide our community with essential services as well as fire prevention and education.”
Columbus Fire is led by Fire Chief / EMT Steven Burton, who has served with the department since 2004. Other officers include Steve Burton Sr. who has served the department for over twenty-five total years and is presently the Assistant Fire Chief. Jason Allison serves as the department’s Deputy Chief / EMT and has served our community since 1992. Other officers for the department are: Kale Kitterman Captain / EMT, Korey Lucian Captain/Paramedic, Cody Burton Lieutenant, Jaden Tedlock Lieutenant / EMT serving over our volunteer firefighters.
About the Columbus Fire Department
We have personnel on duty 24 / 7 offering fulltime protection to our community. Additionally, we cover around 260 square miles of a combination of City and rural areas, including our mutual aided areas.
We run 2 sets of extrication tools, one-off of our engine/rescue unit and the other of our engine.

- 2 Part-time drivers
- Around 16 paid per call firefighters.

- 1 Engine / Rescue unit
- 1 tanker
- 4 brush units
- 1 command unit
