Snow & Ice Removal
The City’s Public Works Department follows a priority system for clearing snow and ice:
Public Works staff will be largely responsible for bulk snow removal in key areas of town. Roads will be plowed using the City Road Grader. Plowing will concentrate on roads with access points to those specifically listed above, and all emergency service buildings and driveways for Fire, Police and Ambulance vehicles.

Snow Removal Priorities
Crews follow routes based on street priority. Call 911 if there is a medical, fire, or another public safety emergency. Police personnel will alert Public Works and resources will be immediately dispatched to provide emergency service support.
Strategies can vary by storm, but typically snow crews plow and treat city streets in the following order:
- Thoroughfares- High traffic volume multi-lane roads
- Collectors- Two-lane streets that move traffic to a thoroughfare street are plowed from the start of snow operations until completed. Collectors typically border neighborhoods or commercial areas.
All streets and intersections in and around the City Square area:
- Kansas Street from HWY-160 to County Road
- Emergency Driveway for Hospital
- Hospital & Clinic parking
- 100 Block West Sycamore (by Hospital)
- Maple St from East Ave – 20th Street
- Roads around City Hall & all parking areas/driveways
- Museum Driveway
